A Personal Service
Losing an equine companion is an extremely difficult experience to go through due to them often being not only a pet, but also seen as friends and family. Silvester Norton are a dignified and respectful equine transport and cremation service. We offer our services nationwide and operate 24hrs a day 7 days a week. Making the decision can be hard, and something no horse owner should have to go through alone. We will be with you each step of the way ensuring the utmost care of you loved horse throughout this time.
Can I call in an emergency?
Yes, do not hesitate to call if you need us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We have a team on hand ready, Call 07883 445230.
Do you cover my area?
Whilst we serve Berkshire, Hampshire & Surrey daily, we can work nationally, or call us and maybe we can recommend somebody in your area.
What happens when you arrive?
Once we arrive onsite, we typically meet with your vet as the can be a difficult time for owners. We will bring our trailer along side your horse and use straps to winch your horse onto our fully covered and lit trailers or horse carriers. Once secured we ask if you would like to say a final good bye before leaving location.
What happens when you leave?
When we leave site, fully dependant on your wishes we will either head straight to the crematorium or to your local zoo. We will never carry any other horse alongside yours, we always provide a personal service.
I would like a home burial for my horse?
Burying your horse at home is sometimes the most personal way you can manage the aftercare of your loved horse when the time comes. We have excavators ready to help you prepare the final resting place, weather it be a woodland or meadow. (DEFRA Approval Req)
Who needs to be involved?
If you are happy for your horse or pony to be euthansed by humane killer then that is the method we will use. If you wish your companion to be euthansed by lethal injection you will need to contact your vet who will carry this out. Should you wish to be present you are welcome, however if you would rather not we would be more than happy to hold your companion for your vet while they carry out their procedure.
What is 'disposal only' and do I have options?
If cremation isn't for you then we have options available for you. DEFRA & APHA (Animal & Plant Health Association) only permit livestock to be disposed of in a number of ways to protect our environment and our precious eco systems.
Thats why we use local zoo's and hunt kennels for carnivore feed as one option and when available we can donate your loved one for study to local universities.
Remember if you horse is put down by your vet and chemicals used, it is the law in the UK to have your pet cremated.
Silvester Norton do not sell any animal by products.
